Amateur Radio Study Class Technician Class
August 7-8th, 2009
West Monroe, LA

On August 7th and 8th 2009, the NELA ARES Foundation will sponsor a 2 day Introduction to Amateur Radio Study class. Friday August 7th will be from 6:00-9:00pm and the Saturday August 8th class will be from 8:00am– 1:00pm with Lunch provided.
The FCC Technician Class amateur radio license test will be administered at 1:00pm.

  • Classes will cost $51.00 Includes Textbook, Lunch, and one Test Session.
  • Test fee will be $14.00 due on the day of the class.
  • Class location will be at the Ouachita Parish Fire Training Center, 1000 New Natchitoches, West Monroe.

SKYWARN Training Class Scheduled for September 19th
A Skywarn Spotter Class will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 10 a.m. Location will be at the Ouachita Parish Fire Training Center, 1000 New Natchitoches Road in West Monroe, LA. This class is free and open to anyone wishing to volunteer as a severe weather spotter for the National Weather Service. Ham Radio Operators, first reponders, and emergency management personnel are encouraged to attend this valuable training opportunity.

Statewide EOC HF Tests: The state EOC in Baton Rouge will be conducting a series of HF tests on a bi-monthly basis. These tests will be conducted on 7.285 and 3.873 MHz. For a current schedule and results of the tests, visit: www.eacom.org
